Our Advisory Groups meet separately according to varying schedules. The goal is to gather feedback from the specific constituency of the school community about what is working well and where improvements can be made and provide that feedback to the Pathways High Council. The Educator Advisory Group (EAG): Includes school superintendents or their designee from public and private schools in Milwaukee and the surrounding counties. Pathways High will be a learning laboratory for the region benefiting from the expertise and experiences of other schools/school districts while providing these districts with a direct view of our innovative education model in action that in turn can be implemented in their own schools. Several schools and school districts have indicated their interest to be a member of the EAG.
Parent/Community Advisory Group (PCAG): When the school opens in August 2017, Pathways High Community Outreach Group will transition to become the PCAG, reporting to the Pathways High Council. The Advisory Group’s responsibilities will include:
Promoting the school mission
Provide communication for all parents of new policy updates and other important news including upcoming events and volunteer opportunities
Monitoring and advising school programs and services
Inform new parents about Pathways High and assist with the transition through a partner parent program.
Inform all parents by sharing news articles on education
Participating in strategic planning and updates
Building attendance at school exhibitions and gallery walks
Advancing the school’s public image
Serving as ambassadors and spokespersons for the school
Contributing to and reviewing parents and student feedback (e.g. surveys) about the school program
Assuring and reviewing faculty and staff input into the operation of the school through regular planning meetings, staff development sessions, and regular climate and performance surveys
The PCAG will facilitate students, families, and partners to become stakeholders committed to the enduring success of the school in a myriad of ways before student enrollment, upon enrollment, before the school year, and on a daily and weekly basis throughout the school year.
Student Advisory Group (SAG):The SAG will be a youth-led organization that is committed to providing a voice for the students of Pathways High by representing and presenting the interests of the students to the Leadership and Council of Pathways High. The SAG will be made up of 9 students 2 from each grade level and 1 from IMPACT. From the beginning of Pathways High the leadership team has been committed to including student voice as a critical component of the school’s development. This core group of teenagers is made up of students in grades 8-12. Pathways High will continue to include students in the development process through year zero. Students who are not part of the Pathways High student body due to age or other circumstances, may still associate with Pathways High to share their vision with the actual students. They can serve in advisee capacities either in person at certain events or through digital means.
