We hope your autumn is off to a great start! Our summer was a whirlwind! We’re happy to report that our Pathways High team submitted our charter proposal to the UWM Office of Charter Schools on August 31st and the next step is an interview with the evaluation committee on September 26th. We will hear about our charter authorization by Friday, Sept. 30th and will provide another update at that time. In more good news, we’ve identified both our Pathways High Director and Associate Director. They are amazingly talented leaders who passionately believe every student can succeed. Together they have expertise in school start ups, city education, project based learning, personalization, culturally relevant teaching and whole student development.
Our proposed Director is a local educator and administrator with extensive ties to many Milwaukee city schools. A great deal of his success can be attributed to his relationship driven approach to education.
Our proposed Associate Director is both a graduate of High Tech High (HTH) School and the High Tech High Graduate School of Education Leadership in San Diego. She is also a current teacher at both schools. As many of you know, the inspiration for Pathways High came from High Tech High, the school founded in 2000 and featured in the film Most Likely to Succeed. High Tech High’s successful model has propelled their growth to 15 schools (5 high schools, 4 middle schools and 4 elementary schools). In addition, HTH teachers have started and grown successful new charter schools based on the HTH model in other cities. Both Pathways High leaders will be announced upon authorization of our charter.
We look forward to sharing more good news with you going forward.
