Coronavirus (covid-19) updates
On Thursday, March 12th Governor Evers declared a Public Health Emergency for the State of Wisconsin and called upon the people of Wisconsin to work aggressively to slow the spread of COVID-19. We take this responsibility seriously, as we consider the impact of our decisions on students and their learning, our families and staff and their professional and personal responsibilities. As we learn from others’ experiences with COVID-19 both across the country and around the world, we want to answer one question with confidence; ‘Are we doing all that we can to keep our students, staff members, and community safe?’
The impact of a single case in any one school in a district is extremely significant. If one student or staff becomes infected, everyone who was in close proximity will need to be quarantined for 14 days. For this reason we have decided that beginning on Monday, March 16th - Friday, March 20th, all Pathways High will move to virtual learning and no students will report to school. Spring break will continue as planned from March 23-27. Any plans for school after spring break will be determined and communicated in the coming days.
The good news is we have planned for an extended school closing by carefully planning virtual learning activities and preparing our students to use the platform we will enact for learning. Every effort will be made to meet the needs of all learners during virtual days and students and their families should work with their teachers to identify any accommodations necessary.
In preparation for our school closing, students took a technology survey this week to help us assess if we needed to provide a Chromebook for home based learning. Those students were given a Chromebook Authorization policy to have signed by a parent/guardian and will be issued a Chromebook to complete their assignments. If you feel that your child will need support with school technology please call the school office at (414) 943-2891 to make arrangements to stop in from 11AM-1PM any day the week of March 16th-20th to sign the waiver and pick up a chrome book. Further, today in Townhall and Advisory students were given time to review the structure for accessing assignments, and instruction. Below is a list of student expectations which can also be found on our website in the upper right hand corner:
Students should login and complete daily assignments in Aleks. Their daily goal is to complete at least 4 topics a day or 20 topics in a week.
Students should log in to MyLC daily to access the seminar syllabus and the daily/weekly tasks. All learning for the week will be posted in each seminar series by 8:00 AM Monday.
Students will check in with their advisor twice weekly- Mondays and Thursdays via text/phone or email.
Students will have access to teachers daily through email. Teachers will be available to answer questions and support throughout the normal school day hours of 7:30-4:00.
While away from school, we strongly encourage families to follow the guidance and recommendations provided by the CDC regarding safe hygiene and travel. Students and staff who travel to any Level 2 or Level 3 country, or any area in the United States with a significant outbreak, may be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days before returning to school or work.
Pathways High will be distributing lunches every weekday on site to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM outside of Spring Break. We recognize the significant burden this places on our families and community, but feel this is the right thing to do in response to an unprecedented health crisis. We will continue to stay in conversation with county and state officials, to ensure that we play an active role in combating COVID-19.

Pathway High investment in student 1:1 devices and online learning tools, allows us to use this approach to teaching and learning in times of need.
Every effort will be made to meet the needs of all learners during virtual days and students and their families should work with their teachers to identify any accommodations necessary.
Students that have indicated a need for a support from the school with technology will be provided with appropriate technology. If there is a family concern about access the family should email call PH at (414)943-2891 to make arrangements to pick up appropriate technology.
Lunch for students that qualify for free and reduced lunch can be picked up at Pathways High between 11:00-1:00 on weekdays outside of Spring Break.
Teacher & Student Interactions
Teachers will be available, via email, to answer any questions students or families have during the regular school hours from 7:30-4:00.
By 8 AM Monday teachers will post the learning expectations for the week in a daily calendar. Students can access this through Mylc in the seminar syllabus.
Students are expected to login and complete 4 Aleks topics a day or 20 a week.
Students will have bi-weekly check ins with advisors on Monday and Thursdays through email, phone or text.
